Harlem – Friendly Ghost (Matador)
August 23, 2010 by Joe Morrison
Bouncy surf garage and fuzzy indie/rock are all to commonplace these days. So what makes the bouncy surf garage and fuzzy indie/rock of Harlem so appealing?
Maybe it?s the fact that Harlem are good at it. With this single ?Friendly Ghost?, off their already-released-in-America album ?Hippies?, they?ve cobbled together all of these genres into a smashing pop gem. An instant hit, in a bash you over the head with a frying pan type way, it?s three minutes of a rumbling drum attack, which is an undeniable force pushing against the rising bass lick and the Strange Boys-esque jangling guitar riff.
Unashamedly fun, and well worthy of your dancing shoes.
