Pixies and Blur Both Play Secret Gigs

Blur and The Pixies both played secret gigs in East London last night to mark the release of new albums.

Blur joined a long list of illustrious acts who have played in-store at Rough Trade East on Brick Lane in support of their new compilation Midlife, while The Pixies performed at Village Underground in Shoreditch as part of an exhibition around their new Minotaur boxed set.

The legendary Boston band played a 30 minute set to a 300-strong audience of industry insiders, musicians, competition winners, media and art students.

Taking requests from the crowd, the band performed a mini greatest hits set that included songs such as Gigantic and Dig For Fire, encoring with popular B side Wave Of Mutilation (UK Surf).

Minotaur, which went on pre-sale yesterday, is a boxed set comprising all five of the band?s studio album in deluxe and limited editions, including art work by Vaughan Oliver, who designed all of The Pixies? cover art.

It is being released by bespoke record company Artists In Residence, which specialises in high-value releases.
