Addict Music’s Guide To The Great Escape

May 7, 2010 by

It’s our favourite time of year again, the start of the English festival season. As always, this fine English tradition begins in sunny Brighton, with The Great Escape ? Britain’s answer to SXSW. For three days music fans and industry hacks will invade the city for 72 hours of gigs and parties. As always we will be at the festival, reporting back all of the highlights and propping up Brighton’s many bars.

Seeing as there is so much going on this year, chances are you might miss a few great performance. Fear not we’ve had a look through the hundreds of bands playing and cherry picked several performances that you dare not miss.

First up ?

Broken Social Scene

Of all the headline acts, the Canadian indie troupe are clearly the band everyone will want to see this year – queues will be around the block for this show, so get there early.

Wild Beasts

Two Dancers was easily one of the best and most original albums of last year, and their live shows ain’t too shabby either.

The fact that they are a 20 strong female troupe should be enough to get you down to their show, we’ll certainly be there.

One of our favourite bands, their shows are legendary for the amount of visceral energy on show.

Sleigh Bells

Another duo from America who have an extremely loud live show, this time with a heady concoction of crunk-indie.

The Morning Benders

I know this sounds dodgy, especially in Brighton of all places, but their second album has just come out in America and it’s truly amazing – hopefully their live show will match its magnificence

The Great Escape takes place on the 13-15 of May, for more info head over to here.
