Spring is here and so is the start of the Festival Season. The first one on our list is the Great Escape – the English festival that basically decides, which bands will headline Coachella in five years time.

We’ve been given the task of picking acts which shouldn’t be missed and to be perfectly honest, this year’s line up doesn’t make it easy – it’s like picking your favourite child, the mere thought of it makes us feel uncomfortable.

But since it has to be done, let’s pop the pimple at once and get it over with.

For psychedelic radness

Unknown Mortal Orchestra: simply one of the best bands around. We can’t wait to see how their amazing second album II translates live. (‘So Good at Being in Trouble’ is pure sex for the ears, we’re telling you.)

Melody’s Echo Chamber: think Tame Impala in the body of a French babe.

Allah Las: is the only recent band we’ve seen being admired by both sixty-year-old couples and young dudes.Their music is crafty and melodic, and they will be playing twice – so you have no excuse!

For dreamy vibes

Tripwires: one of our new favourite upcoming acts here at Addict. Their shoegazey cover of Daniel Johnston’s “True Love Will Find You In The End” will simply blow you away.

Fear of Men: we must have seen them like five times already, but hey, that girl’s voice is bewitching. Think Veronica Falls’darker and sexier evil twin.

Beach Fossils: I shouldn’t even have to write down a reason.

Because you’ll never get over missing them

The Orwells, Mikal Cronin and White Fence – there should always be garage-rock bands at a festival and here are the U.S’s best. The only way the organisers could top it up was if they actually had Thee Oh Sees and Ty Segall as surprise guests, but hey, you can’t have it all.

If you’re scared and would much rather stick to oldies, go and see Klaxons– we won’t hold it against you. The Great Escape starts on Thursday, for more info head over here.
