Thao And The Get Down Stay Down – Body (Kill Rock Stars)

With a drum intro similar to Coldplay?s ?In My Place?, thankfully the latest single from San Franciscan songstress Thao (with The Get Down Stay Down) turns into something a bit different.
If you?ve been a keen admirer of the chirpy indie pop of ‘We Brave Bee Stings and All?, then ?Body?, from new album Know Better Learn Faster won?t disappoint. It’s not so much a departure in sound more a continuation of the good work she has produced.
Admittedly not much would suggest the track would be her breakthrough, yet the clever use of hand claps in a slow burning number, driven by said drum beat and perky guitar hook, including a nice brass punch to finish, creates a pleasant trademark Thao track.
