Camden Crawl 2010 ?Indie Idle? Competition Launched

January 19, 2010 by

It’s nearly Camden Crawl time again and this year The Gaymers Camden Crawl are re-launching its annual ?Indie Idle? competition as an all new talent recognition campaign titled the Emerging Talent Awards.

Launching in January 2010, the ETAs are said to ‘aim to identify the most gifted new artists in the UK across a variety of disciplines through a combination of popular vote and judged awards.’

Artists may apply to enter the awards from 18th January through the dedicated ETA website and any band or solo performer will be eligible to enter provided that they are a new artist from the UK.

Each entrant will appear alphabetically on the site from mid February for short listing by public vote in three categories: Best New Band, Best New Solo Artist and Best Live Act. The top 15 voted artists in each category will be announced on the site on the 15th of March, leaving the ETA judging panel to select the final winners for each award, with the exception of the People?s Choice Award, from the 45 short listed artists.

The panel is to be comprised of music industry experts, including a producer/recording engineer, music journalist, radio DJ, record company A&R person, live promoter, booking agent and a member of the Crawl team.

The People?s Choice Award will instead be chosen by a second round of public voting commencing 15th March.

The final award winners (see full list of awards overleaf) will be announced approximately 3 weeks prior to the Gaymers Camden Crawl scheduled to take place 1st & 2nd May 2010. Each winner will be invited to play a 30 minute live set at the Emerging Talent Awards stage at Freedm Studios @ The Roundhouse on one of the 2 days of the event and will be presented with their award and prizes by a special guest host following their set.
