BOLLOCKS

International anti-poverty charity ActionAid has launched a new competition, encouraging people all over the UK to put on an event in their area and adding it to the renowned Bollocks to Poverty line up.

The event can be anything, such as a house party or club night, a fashion show or a gig with a line-up of the best unsigned bands in town. To be in the running, it just has to take place before August 10th 2009, with the best, rather than the biggest, event taking top prize.

Entries for Bollocks to Poverty: Work it! will be judged by a top panel of experts, including Laurent Barnard from electrifying Brit punk band Gallows

In order to judge the best event, ActionAid are asking entrants to blog about their event on its website. The winner will be the blogger who attracts a mixture of the most votes and blog comments from the public and who makes the judges feel as though they were actually there.

The organiser of the winning event will have the amazing opportunity to become ActionAid?s Bollocks to Poverty Tour Ambassador for 2009.

Laurent said: “ActionAid work hard to make sure people less fortunate are provided with the same opportunities as the rest of us. Bollocks To Poverty: Work It! is the perfect chance to not only do something positive for charity but to also get together with friends and put on whatever kind of night you wish, be it a rock show or a house party. This could even kickstart a career as a party liaison expert which we all know would be a lot of fun!”
